This is an EMDR with Eating Disorders Training led by DaLene Forester and Lauren Kiser. This training will include information on Eating Disorders as well as managing co-occurring issues.

Working with Eating Disorders can present a myriad of complexities such as Eating Disorder severity, trauma history, co-existing disorders and personality presentations. This training lays the foundation for understanding and working with Eating Disorders using EMDR and provides practical interventions and treatment approaches for eating disorder therapy.
Dr. DaLene Forester has two chapters published in EMDR Solutions II, R Shapiro (ed.), W.W. Norton & Company, 2009 and one chapter published in Trauma-Informed Approaches to Eating Disorders, A. Seubert and P. Virdi (ed.) Springer Publishing Company, LLC, 2019. She is eager to share her knowledge regarding the treatment of Eating Disorders alongside Lauren Kiser.
About Your Trainers
-Dr. DaLene Forester is well known for her expertise in the field of Eating Disorders and her utilization of EMDR when working with this population. As the former EMDRIA President, she is exceptionally skilled and understanding of how EMDR can create life changing results for clients that talk therapy may not always provide. As the founder and owner of the Advanced Education Institute, Dr. Forester spends her time and passions training and equipping therapists while also treating clients experiencing the complexities of trauma, Eating Disorders, and substance abuse.
-Lauren Kiser’s experience treating very complex cases using EMDR has been a source of hope for many clients suffering with Eating Disorders. Her devotion to equipping therapists to utilize the tools of therapy to help clients recover is something for which she is highly praised. Lauren is a Dissociative Disorder Specialist which informs her theoretical approach to understanding and treating Eating Disorders and the difficulties that may coexist such as personality disorder, addictive behaviors, and secondary gain.

Learning Objectives
Identify 3 elements common in clinically diagnosed eating disorders
List the 8-phases of EMDR Therapy
Identify 3 state change exercises that can be used in the preparation phase to prepare people with eating disorders to do EMDR
Apply an understanding of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model to create a treatment plan for working with clients with eating disorders
Identify the appropriate application of the 3-pronged protocol for clients with eating disorders
Describe 3 functions of eating disorder symptoms, ways the eating disorder helps the individual
Explain the connection between trauma, personality disorders, and eating disorders
Identify how EMDR can be used to target eating disorder behaviors
List at least 3 commonly held negative cognitions of individuals with eating disorders
Describe how an eating disorder develops as a coping mechanism
Continuing Education
NBCC: Advanced Education Institute (AEI) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6657. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. AEI is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. This program qualifies for 12 credit hours.
APA: Advanced Education Institute (AEI) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. AEI maintains responsibility for this program and its content. 12 hours of CE Credit are available for attendees who are present for the entire program.
EMDRIA: Advanced Education Institute (AEI) is approved by the EMDR International Association to offer EMDRIA Credit for this program. The provider maintains responsibility for the program. This program qualifies for 12 EMDRIA credits.

-Space is limited. Registrants cancelling up to 72 hours before the training will receive a tuition refund less a $75.00 administrative fee. No refund for less than 72 hours cancellation. A $25.00 service charge applies to each returned check. All in person trainings by DaLene Forester, PhD, LMFT, LPCC are held in facilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
