Clinical Supervision is constantly changing. From the addition of new licensing laws to hours that qualify for pre-licensed therapists. Join DaLene for a program designed for supervisors of all experience levels. We will cover the many changes Clinical Supervisors need to be aware of in their practices. DaLene focuses on balancing the legal and ethical supervisory relationship with the development of your own personalized approach to support professional growth and individual style.

One day of live training for Clinical Supervisors to update and stay current with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements to Supervise.

About the Trainer

DaLene Forester, PhD, LMFT, LPCC, has a successful private practice in Redding, California. She provides Clinical Supervision to Associates, is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and EMDR Trainer, and specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and PTSD.  In addition to her psychotherapy practice, DaLene is an AAMFT and CAMFT Certified Supervisor, a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and an approved Continuing Education provider with the American Psychological Association and the National Board of Certified Counselors. For more information, call 530-245-9221.

Learning Objectives

  • Articulate at least two current changes to laws and/or regulations pertaining to supervisors.

  • Articulate at least three current changes to laws and/or regulations pertaining to supervisees.

  • Complete the current Supervisor Responsibility Forms and/or Supervised Professional Experience forms for MFT Associates/trainees, Social Work Associates, Professional Counselor Interns, Registered Psychological Assistants, or Registered Psychologist.

  • List the requirements for having a pre-licensed practitioner as a volunteer and/or paid employee.

  • Describe two techniques to reduce common errors in communication with a supervisee regarding client/patient care.

  • Describe two crucial teachings to reduce common boundary violations with supervisees regarding client/patient care.

  • Identify two crucial teachings to reduce common boundary violations with supervisees regarding client/patient care.

  • Explain how informed consent for both supervisees and clients help ensure legal and ethical treatment and creates an additional factor to protect supervisors from vicarious liability.

  • Summarize the Developmental Process a trainee/intern/associate experiences while receiving supervision and gathering hours toward licensure.

  • Identify five of the strategies to increase effectiveness with trainees/interns/associates in supervision.
